A Rebuilt Practice DrivingA Flood Of Leads And A Promising Future

Kristin Jain set out to take Jain Law & Associates in a completely new direction. With SMB Team coaching and marketing, the firm went from almost no inbound leads to several hundred a month — roughly 80% of them qualified — and hired additional attorneys and support staff to keep up.

Firm Overview

Serving Clients With Precision

Jain Law & Associates PLLC is a Dallas–Fort Worth commercial litigation and bankruptcy firm with national and international reach, based in Irving, Texas. Founding attorney Kristin H. Jain brings 25-plus years of experience representing insurance companies, creditors, debtors, trustees, financial institutions, businesses and individuals across state and federal courts in all 50 states — business formation and disputes, employment matters, subrogation, liability defense, probate and estate litigation. The promise is a small firm’s responsiveness with a large firm’s reach: the personal service of a boutique, without big-firm expense.

The Problem

Turning the firm in a whole new direction

Kristin wasn’t tuning up an existing practice. She was shifting the firm’s book of business wholesale — moving toward the commercial clients she wanted to serve. That meant the marketing and advertising that had brought in yesterday’s caseload was pointed at the wrong audience, and inbound leads for the new direction were close to nonexistent.

“When we hired SMB Team, we were attempting to shift our business practice wholesale and take the firm in a whole new direction. We needed to understand how to change our marketing and advertising to attract the clients we wanted.”

Kristin H. Jain, Founding Attorney

Underneath the marketing problem sat a bigger one. The administrative side of the practice was consuming the time meant for practicing law. Processes and procedures had grown up case by case rather than by design, and the firm had no framework for deciding which work — and which clients — to build the next chapter around.

Like most attorneys, Kristin had been trained to practice law, not to run a law firm as a business. The repositioning needed both at once: a marketing plan aimed squarely at commercial clients, and an operating model underneath it that could absorb the volume when it arrived.

Why SMB Team

One partner for the whole problem

Kristin chose SMB Team because it was a whole-product firm — marketing, advertising and business coaching under one roof, rather than a vendor for each. From the first conversations the team was immediately responsive, had answers to the questions that mattered, and was willing to work both inside scheduled sessions and outside them: building the marketing plan alongside her and helping her streamline how the firm actually operates.

“They helped us fill out our marketing plan and, frankly, figure out how we could better practice law — how we could streamline all of our business practices so we could focus on practicing law instead of the administrative side.”

Our Strategic Approach

Define the client, then build the machine to reach them

A repositioning fails if the advertising still speaks to the old caseload. So the engagement started with a thorough examination of the firm’s processes and procedures, then defined the commercial client Jain Law wanted in the door, and only then rebuilt the marketing and advertising around that definition. Three moves, in order:

Step 1 Examine the practice
Step 2 Name the ideal client
Step 3 Rebuild the advertising

From there the work expanded to every layer of the firm: which matters the firm takes and which it turns away; how the team is structured and staffed as volume grows; how much of Kristin’s week goes to law versus administration; and how she shows up as an owner, not just as a lawyer.

Solutions Implemented

What we put in place

Business and leadership best practices

A dedicated coach, on call

A monthly check-in with her coach, Nina, plus email access in between whenever a decision can’t wait. The feedback is direct and unfiltered — what’s actually happening in the offices, and the small steps available today to improve it.

Processes and procedures, examined

A thorough review of how work moves through the firm, then a streamlined version of it — so administrative load stops eating the hours meant for practicing law, and added volume lands on a process instead of on Kristin’s desk.

The business side of a law firm, taught

Law school teaches lawyers to practice law, not to run the company around it. Coaching closed that gap — boiling the firm down to its core requirements so Kristin knows exactly what to focus on to drive the business forward.

Live workshops with peers

In-person coaching workshops where owners compare what’s working in their own practices. They reinforce what’s learned between sessions and magnify it — surfacing extra reasons a recommended move is the right one.

“My coach, Nina, is my conscience. She talks to me about being bold enough to make the decisions that are a little bit terrifying at times — and takes the time to explain why the choices I’m making are actually good ones.”

Elite Coaching

Monthly check-ins, unlimited email in between, and honest feedback about what’s really happening inside the practice — the part of running a firm that no law school covers.

Demand generation, engineered

PPC, Social Media and AI Video, built for the firm she’s building

SEO, paid search and website run as one stack against the commercial client Jain Law wants — filled out with Kristin in the room, not handed to her as a deck.

Advertising that speaks to business clients

Messaging and targeting reworked to address the commercial matters the firm wants — litigation, bankruptcy and creditor’s rights, business disputes — so the people walking in have problems Jain Law can actually solve.

“The leads we receive are qualified leads. You never receive 100% qualified leads — that’s part of the business — but we’re at about 80% qualified when they come into our office.”

Lead Quality

Volume alone would have been the wrong win. The advertising was tuned against Kristin’s own feedback until the matters arriving matched the practice she set out to build — and it keeps increasing with very little input from her.
